Waterworld My fascination for ‘water’ as an element of nature originates from taking my children to their weekly swimming classes. Man’s relationship with water has many different aspects. Swimming is one of them. One can say that with a body containing ¾ out of water, man bears water and water bears man. Spaces that relate to water like showers or swimming pools inspire me, amongst other things because they have an (involuntary) impact on peoples’ body language and behaviour in these spaces. The water theme offers me plenty of expressional opportunities. If it isn’t patterns in water surfaces it can be (distorted) images of things happening in or under water. Karin Buchholtz 1994 - 1998 |
